Newsletter Summary
Leadership and Opportunities
The newsletter opens with a reminder of the 2025–2026 Board of Directors, with Jennifer Stanley continuing as President. Members are encouraged to contribute by filling open positions such as Vice President, Membership Co-Chair, Retention Chair, Sponsorship Chair, and Legislative Co-Chair. Board meetings occur monthly on the second Friday, and additional volunteer opportunities exist to help with projects, events, and advocacy initiatives.
Education Revolution Day
The signature event of early 2025 is the Education Revolution Day, scheduled for February 19 at Vouv Dallas. This all-day program will offer up to five CE credits and feature a strong lineup of speakers. Jason Dixon of Trinity Captive will discuss segregated group medical stop loss, while Oklahoma Commissioner Mulready will provide NAIC updates and examine Insure OK as a framework. Neil McNeil will present a three-hour ethics course approved as “Ethics the NABIP Way,” and Jennifer Stanley of StanleyKup will share additional insights. The event will also feature a lunchtime demonstration by Healthee, the event sponsor. The Education Revolution is framed as a cornerstone for professional growth, equipping members with the knowledge and connections to excel in a rapidly evolving industry.
Legislative and Demographic Updates
Continuing from December’s focus, the newsletter highlights census data showing that Texas once again led the nation in population growth in 2024, adding more than 560,000 residents. With over 31 million people now living in the state, Texas has sustained its role as the fastest-growing state for fourteen consecutive years. The growth is driven by affordability, job opportunities, and strong international migration, with more than half of new residents coming from abroad. This demographic surge is shaping the state’s economic and healthcare landscape, reinforcing the importance of responsive policies and effective advocacy.
Advocacy and PAC Efforts
NABIP-Dallas underscores the importance of supporting the NABIP-TX PAC, which backs legislative candidates aligned with common-sense healthcare reforms. Contributions can be made monthly or as one-time gifts, and members are reminded that advocacy ensures their voices remain central in shaping both state and national healthcare policy.
National Conferences and Campaigns
Members are invited to participate in two major national gatherings. The NABIP Capitol Conference will be held in Washington, D.C., from February 23–26, providing an opportunity to engage directly with policymakers. Later in the year, the NABIP Annual Convention will take place in Miami from June 28 to July 1. The convention promises a mix of education, networking, and leisure, with opportunities to connect with industry leaders, discover new solutions in the exhibit hall, and enjoy the energizing setting of South Florida.
At the same time, NABIP continues its national Brokers Making a Difference campaign, spotlighting the vital role that brokers play in guiding consumers through healthcare choices. The campaign emphasizes how brokers serve as trusted advocates, simplify complex decisions, and ensure individuals and families secure the right coverage. Members are encouraged to amplify the campaign and use the NABIP “Find an Agent” tool to connect consumers with licensed, ethical professionals.
Washington Update
The national update section highlights a broad range of issues. Members are encouraged to follow the Trump Administration Tracker, note the nomination hearing of RFK Jr., and consider NABIP’s reminder of its bipartisan role. Policy developments include Virginia’s progress on a transparency bill, ongoing Medicaid expansion debates in Montana, and compliance reminders for the Affordable Care Act in 2025. Members can also access a replay of the Compliance Corner webinar for ACA readiness and track PAC updates.
Resources and Member Benefits
The NABIP Resource Hub continues to provide valuable knowledge through white papers, reports, and guides. This month, the featured resource focuses again on Section 105 Medical Reimbursement Plans, offering strategies to save on taxes through Health Reimbursement Arrangements or Medical Expense Reimbursement Plans. Locally, NABIP-Dallas hosts monthly luncheons at Vouv Dallas on the third Wednesday, with new members eligible for their first lunch at no cost. Members also have access to free online CE webinars through the Lone Star Virtual Chapter, ensuring ongoing opportunities for professional development.
